Finally, the great Harold Lloyde. In “Speedy” (1928) the hero takes his girl to Coney Island tries to avoid dirtying his nice suit by, in turn, a balloon into a fake hot dog to get rid of a jumping mutt, avoiding kids spraying water, as well as a boy biking through a puddle. Then, in a funhouse mirror, he learns that he had backed up against a freshly-painted fence, and responds thusly.
Now you know why Hollywood had to clean up its act.
